Electoral Changes
The Skokie Village Board adopted a new implementation plan for future Village Board elections. These changes will be in effect for the February/April 2025 Election.

Four election districts have been established.Â
The upcoming election for the Village's trustees will see a change in the process. One trustee will be elected by voters from each of the four geographic districts, while two trustees will be elected at-large. This is a departure from previous elections where all six trustees were elected at-large.

Municipal elections will now be held every two years instead of every four years, with the staggering of elections.Â
The upcoming February/April 2025 Election will be an important one for Skokie. The mayor, village clerk, and two at-large trustees will be elected to four-year terms, while trustees from the village's four geographic districts will be elected to initial two-year terms. These will then serve four-year terms in subsequent elections.

There will no longer be political affiliations on the ballot.
Candidates are not allowed to list their political affiliations on their nominating papers, and no political party affiliation will be displayed on the ballot. However, candidates are still able to coordinate their campaigns, fundraising efforts, and platforms with other candidates and political parties.
